It’s a tale as old as time, but with a new spin: Disney premiered the first full trailer for its live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens and directed by Bill Condon (Chicago).
Interestingly, none of the original animated film’s songs are featured in this trailer, though the studio is probably saving that for future trailers. Instead, this is more of a reintroduction to Belle (Watson), the Beast (Stevens), and his castle full of living objects including Lumiere (Ewan McGregor), Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), Chip, Plumette (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), and Cadenza (Stanley Tucci). And of course Luke Evans as Gaston, while Josh Gad playing Le Fou.
The set design and costumes that we can glimpse from “Be Our Guest” and “Gaston” look excellent—no surprise, considering Condon’s musical adaptation background. Check out the trailer:
Beauty and the Beast comes to theaters March 17, 2017.
